Crashed Computer

Sorry it's been so long! Our computer crashed and we have been without one for over 3 weeks. We had to have a new drive put in. Now we are trying to reload things which were on the internet (Pintrest, Yahoo, important things), and programs to open documents, what a mess! Where is Heath when you need him (not really he said we could mail our computer to him but we thought it would be faster to take it to a computer guy). The computer guy was great, don't get me wrong, but we had to order a new Windows 10 program and order a new drive, so it all took forever!!!!!!!!!!

Again all I can say is same ole, same ole. We only have 7 things on Randall's list to finish this house, so we are close. Then it will be clean up and move to the next project. I want to take pictures but I want to have house#1 finished, completely. I want to show before and after pictures. It's hard to take those when everything isn't done.

We have been having a good time though, when we aren't working. Randall took me to a play (Grandmas Naughty Nickers) and dinner in Dodge City for Valentines. It wasn't the best play but it was so nice to get away from here for awhile. We went to dinner and a show (The Great Wall) with the McKinnins. They hadn't been to a show-house for over a decade, WOW! They are frugal people but they actually enjoyed it.

The weather has been crazy here (like everywhere else). It goes from 80 degrees down to 15 degrees overnight. One day amazing and the next windy and cold. Oh well, at least we aren't getting snow like everyone else. They say in Mackay it's snowing like it used to when I first moved there. I wish I could be there, but it's nice not to have to worry about all the mess that comes with it.

Today is Randall's Birthday! Happy Birthday, Birthday Boy! Love you!

Randall on his 67th Birthday! As cute as ever!

Good Day.

Randall's Tidbits

It’s been awhile since I have written something and Ann has been on my case to write something. We have been working hard on getting the first house finished. There have been many chances excel, that is to do things two and three time to get them right. Since it has been a long time since I have done this kind of work I have not always been able to remember or think of all that needs to be done in time to incorporate them in( like not putting a soap dish in the tile for the master bath shower).

We pressure checked the plumbing before Elder Shaw left but when we turned the water on, there were two leaks above the water heater in the copper tubing. I ended up having to cut one of them clear out to fix it. This was a real challenge since they were up in the over head against a heating ducting. Two days and a trip to town for supplies latter they were fixed. I guess I should be happy that they were at least exposed. The upstairs tub drain also leaked so I had to cut a hole in the downstairs bathroom ceiling to fix it.

We are fixing a crack in the ceiling that occurred in the ceiling between the living room and the kitchen where the old center bearing wall was. Ann has been working her butt off fixing the paint job as best as it can be. She has been doing a real good job, especially with what she has to work on.

The weather has been up and down. We had a few nights where it was -17. Yesterday the high was 30 and today it is supposed to get on the mid 60s. All in all it is warmer here than in Mackay and if the wind didn’t blow all the time it would be a very pleasant winter.

Till next time Ann gets after me.

Busy Busy

Well we were certainly busy last weekend, January 26-28th.  After work Friday we drove to Guymon, OK (we go to the branch there for church), on the way we stopped and had dinner at a Mennonite restaurant. We had been told they have super good food and they were always busy. We were told right, luckily we got there early enough we were seated right away. By the time we left it was probably a 45 minute wait. Anyway we continued on our way to Guymon and spent the night in a motel. We had volunteered to get up supper early Saturday morning to help the youth with baptisms for the dead, (or as Brooke Woodbury would rather say, “People who are no longer with us”). Yes, I volunteered to get up supper early. You’re supposed to do these things when you’re on a mission, right?

We arose Saturday morning dark and early, at 5:00 am. and drove to a member’s house for breakfast. Brother Wilkins made a big breakfast for everyone, it was great! Such a nice guy, plus he has 7 kids, 3 out of the 4 that went were his.  We carpooled up and off we went to the Lubbock, Texas Temple. We rode with Elder and Sister Walker, the senior couple we always have dinner with on Sunday.

Welcome to Texas

When we arrived we found out our help would not be needed. So we went with the Walkers to lunch, came back and were able to go through an endowment session.  What a wonderful day, we got back home at around 9:00. Again we spent the night in Guymon.

Sunday we picked up 3 munchkins, Emnet from one family and Alamayu and Tesfaye from another and drove to church. The Walkers give rides to most of the people in the branch so we were able to help them since we had spent the night.  The talks didn’t show up for sacrament meeting, so I was asked to give a talk. For some reason it didn’t bother me, it was however short. Randall and I have been asked to give the Gospel Principle class (I say Randall) for as long as we will be going to the Guymon branch so Randall taught it.

After church we had a linger longer pot luck dinner (great food). After the pot luck the Alamayu and Tesfaye were baptized. They are so cute and had the biggest smiles on their faces.  Since we have been going to Guymon, four people have been baptized! None of it has had anything to do with us. We work on our houses, which I am very grateful for. A lot for one weekend, don’t you agree?

We are getting so close to having house #1 done, stupid things keep happening to set us back. I will let Randall tell about them in his tidbits, which he hasn’t written for quite a while; I think we need to hear from him soon. One of the setbacks is Elder McKinnon has been really sick for the past week! Typical guy he won’t go to the doctor, Randall did give him a blessing but you also need to do what’s needed. He keeps saying he will get better, we shall see?

We had some beautiful weather for awhile, but now it is very, very cold. They say people start planting gardens in March; I can’t wait for warmer weather. Love all of you, miss family, friends and quilt club!

Good day!
